Four Wheeling

My current location at this time is a town by the name of Rishikesh located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Below is a miniute to minute account of my journey from Delhi to Rishikesh which occoured last night. It was written at 6AM directly after completing the journey, still a bit dazed and sleep deprived. Enjoy.

8:32PM - Depart Ajay Guest House following an ordeal concerning laundry prices.

8:38PM - Board Delhi Metro to CP via Blue Line

8:42PM - Transfer to Yellow Line Heading towards Kashmere Gate

8:52PM - Exit Delhi Metro System, ask for directions, cross street.

8:53PM - Arrive at ISBT (Bus Terminal) search for Harrison Travel

9:02PM - Checkin at Harrison Travel, escort to bus headed for Rishikesh

9:04PM - Arrive at and board bus headed for Rishikesh, find seat.

9:23PM - Depart ISBT on bus headed for Rishikesh (It said so on my ticket)

9:24PM - Make friend. Sitting next to me, speaking english, applying to UW

9:27PM - Stop. In the middle of the street, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of Delhi. Engine off.

9:28PM - 18 People board bus. There are 7 open seats.

9:29PM - Argument ensues concerning the ration of seats to human hindquarters.

9:43PM - Return to ISBT to continue argument.

9:55PM - Move one seat back at the request of the driver.

10:08PM - Depart ISBT on Bus headed for Rishikesh (It said so on my ticket)

10:12PM - Sit in traffic

10:20PM - Sit in traffic

10:34PM - Sit in traffic

10:47PM - Depart Delhi on bus headed for Rishikesh

10:57PM - Left ring finger and left big toe attached by insect of unknown species. Swelling, burning, and itching ensues.

11:15PM - Fall asleep.

11:53PM - Very large speed bump (I caught air)

12:03AM - Fall asleep.

12:38AM - Stop. In the middle of the street, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of India

12:43AM - Train Passes

12:54AM - Fall Asleep

1:34AM - Wake, as we are stopped, again, in the middle of nowhere. Bus Bathroom Break.

1:57AM - Depart Middle of Nowhere

2:15AM - Fall Asleep

2:18AM - Very large speed bump (I caught air)

2:25AM - Fall Asleep

2:43AM - Cold. So, very, cold.

2:47AM - Fall Asleep

3:01AM - Cold. Still. Duh.

3:02AM - Rummage around in bag. Find two shirts. One on back, one on head.

3:04AM - Bus Sick.

3:15AM - Stop. let 3 people off. Go.

3:48AM - Fall Asleep

4:07AM - It's 4:07AM

4:19AM - Stop. In the middle of the street, in the middle of town.

4:20AM - Where are we? Haridwar, this bus doesn't go to Rishekish.

4:21AM - Walk.

4:25AM - New Friend asks townies about other modes of transportation.

4:26AM - Townies: Those local busses that keep driving by will take you there.

4:27AM - Bus. Does not stop.

4:29AM - Bus. Does not stop.

4:30AM - Walk

4:35AM - Bus. Stops.

4:35AM - Depart Haridwar on bus headed for Rishikesh.

4:47AM - Pay Rs.17 for bus headed for Rishekish

4:51AM - Stop. Let one person off.

4:56AM - Stop. Let two people off.

4:59AM - Stop. Rik? Rik? Yes. Let me off.

4:59AM - Arrive in Rishikesh.

5:01AM - Rik to High Bank (Location in town of accommodation)

5:09AM - Very Large Speed Bump. That one hurt.

5:15AM - Arrive at High Bank, pay driver Rs.150

5:16AM - Hike. In dark. to find accommodation. Mount Valley Mama Cottage.

5:20AM - Arrive at MVMC just behind two other travelers.

5:27AM - Greeted by Mama, showed to room.

5:28AM - Cold. So. Very. Cold.

5:28AM - Given Blanket.

5:36AM - Start typing

6:12AM - Stop. Typing.

6:12AM - Birds Chirping.

6:14AM - Fall Asleep.
